Tips for preparing your home for sale
Posted by John Vernon & Associates on
As spring approaches, many people start thinking about putting their home on the market.
Here are few things that you can do to get your home ready for sale:
-
Improve your curb appeal
We all know that first impressions are very important, and the same goes for your home. Try putting a fresh coat of paint on your front porch, clean up those flower beds, and keep any walkways clear.
-
Clear out the clutter
Clutter can often be distracting for buyers and detracts from the features of the home. Put away the pile of shoes and coats at the front entrance and clear off counters and surfaces.
-
Clean, clean, clean
Give the whole house a thorough clean. If you’re too busy to stay on top of things, consider hiring a cleaning service to stop by every couple weeks.
-
Tackle that honey-do list
All those little things you’ve been meaning to do but never got around to? Buyers will notice them, and they’ll detract from the value of your home.
-
Repaint the walls neutral colors
As much as you love the dramatic red dining room, it could turn off a good portion of your buyer. So repaint your rooms in neutral tones like tan and whites that allow buyers to focus on the spaces themselves, not the color of the walls.
